EMS Community Paramedic

Overview
Provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured with the goal of reducing morbidity. Supports existing health services; provides the integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals; extends access to health services delivery in the general populations, to include primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness; and performs other duties as required.
Responsibilities
Performs all Primary Job Responsibilities listed for Paramedic;
Examines, screens, treats and coordinates health services for patients;
Conducts post-hospital release follow-up care including, but not limited to, monitoring medication, and checking vital signs
Observes, records, and reports to physician/Transitional Care Coordinator, patient's conditions and reactions to drugs, treatment, and significant incidents;
Conducts patient education, including diabetes prevention/treatment, hypertension, CHF, COPD, falls assessment, injury evaluation, and nutrition;
Administers patient care consistent with department protocols;
Coordinates follow-up appointments
Develops and completes appropriate reports and templates for the Community Paramedic Program;
Attends meetings as requested and available;
Maintains confidentiality of all patients, employees, corporate records, and patient records in accordance with current HIPAA guidelines;
Exhibits excellent customer service skills and behaviors toward internal and external customers and co-workers.
Cleans and maintains vehicle
Cleans and maintains equipment used
Maintains records of supplies, training and daily work;
EMS Continuing Education if available;
Other duties as related to assignment.
Qualifications
Experience/Education Requirements:
Successful completion of the Community Paramedic class and clinical portion
High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree preferred
Two years EMS experience preferred
License or Certification Requirements:
State of Illinois licensure as an EMT-Paramedic
Valid Illinois Driver's License
Evidence of driving record up to 7 years may be required to meet insurability in Riverside's insurance program
Certificate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
Certificate in Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred
Certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
Certificate in Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support preferred



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
